week of prayer // day 4
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
We come to you today, seeking after the unity you desire.
You tell us in your word, "let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose" (1 Corinthians 1:10 NLT).
Unite our minds as a church.
Unite our thoughts.
Unite our purpose.
We ask Lord that you would have your way in your church, Fellowship Chapel. We seek clarity of vision and purpose. We seek the unity of our thoughts and minds.
We repent where we have allowed Satan to divide us.
[Spend some time focusing on where division may exist. Ask the Lord to help bring unity and surrender.]
God, we know that the church's purpose isn't strictly physical, but it is spiritual. We know there is a spiritual battle that wages around us. We know that Satan wants to destroy your church and your people.
You tell us, Lord, to "stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8 NLT).
A lion looks to devour the one member of the pack who has fallen out of the group; we know this is true of the picture of your people and Satan. He desires to devour us in the places where we are not united.
Unite us so that we can stick together as a pack. Help us to be able to resist the attacks of Satan by standing united together.
[Take time to press into God, seeking ways in which we can stand more united as brothers and sisters in the Lord. Where is Satan trying to devour? Where are there members who have fallen away?]
God, we also come to you asking us to stand united in purpose and vision.
You tell us, "If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to all expression in us" (1 John 4:12 NLT).
May our love for one another be a beacon of your love for our neighbors. We pray that the passion we show one another is contagious.
You're in control, and you know the situation that surrounds us. You are aware of the Coronavirus and the havoc it is having.
Show us how we can be an example of your love during this time? Unite our spirits with your Holy Spirit so we may be an example of love, peace, unity, and ultimately you this day and in the days to come.
[Listen to "Burn In Us" by our worship team, Fellowship MSC, and reflect on what God is saying to you. What is he saying to our church?]
"So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing" (1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV).
(Please leave a comment below to share about something the God said to you during your time in prayer.)
"Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him." Psalm 105:4 NLT
